I thought of something interesting today. If you think of the artists that ruled 2006 they have all fallen from grace - quality or sales wise. Just think about it.

Nelly Furtado
Releases dud spanish album, gratest hits that nobody bought, and rubbish follow up english album that has some of the worst sales and chart placements ever for a once big time artist.

Rihanna
While her sales may still be strong - her music is now rubbish. Listen to her last album (reason why only 1 song was a hit from it) or Diamonds. What happened to the girl singing SOS back in 2006? Not to mention her drug use and how she now looks like a 14 year old boy.

Fergie
No follow up to solo album. 2 albums of drivel with the BEP (besides Meet Me Halfway, chorus of Just Can't Get Enough and her rap in Boom Boom Pow) where Will.I.Am turned her into a chipmunk. She filled a role that any computer generated voice could have. Her movie Nine with Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson which was meant to translate her to movies was a finacial and critical failure. Now she is married and seems ready for kids.

Beyoncé
Enjoyed success with film and movies up until last year when she released the dire 4 (the weakest DC3 related release until Kelly Rowland's last album). All singles underperformed (all 20 of them) and it remains her lowest selling record to date. Seems more intent with being a hipster these days falunting her riches with her ugly husband.

Paris Hilton
Despite Stars are Blind doing well - nothing else since has. Spent weeks in prison. Can't find a label to release her second album. More run ins with the law. Several failed television and movie projects. Then the public turned their back on her in favour of Kim Kardashian. Now she is a cougar at 31 to a 20 year ol male model. Still acts like a 19 year old club hopping.

Jessica Simpson
Country album undersold - 250k WW. Christmas album was outsold by The Spirit Indestructable. Dropped by 2 labels. Several relationships ended. Embarassed herself in front of the entire nation by messing the words to 9 to 5. Failed television show. Several movie failures. Gave Kirstie Alley a run for her money in the weight department. Now makes her $$$ from Weightwatchers.

Pussycat Dolls
Disbanded. Second album was shite. None of the other girls can get a record deal. Nicole Scherzinger hated but Cowell keeps trying to push her on the public despite nobody wanting her. Can't get her album released in her home country. 1st album was shelved due to string of failure singles. Had success in the UK before single bombed.

Evanescence
Their last album sold peanuts despite a respectable debut in the US. No singles made an impact anywhere. In-house fighting with most of the band leaving except Amy Lee.

Shakira
She Wolf was a major disappointment as a follow up to Oral Fixation. It sold a quater of the sales of OF despite the lead single - the title track going Top 10 in most countries. Improvement in sales with Sale el Soul.
