Re: Maria Sharapova (2)
Russia are (2-0) against Spain. The deciding match will be played tomorrow.
Maria has played 1 match so far and won it in straight sets. Tomorrow she takes on Carla Suárez Navarro. If Russia win they will progess to the Semi Finals which take place in April.

I doubt it at 22. You need to be playing since you were 9/10 to be realistic about a future.Alonso wrote:Gary wrote:No. Not professionally. Love watching it though! My favourite sport easily.
Interesting. Well, who knows, you still have time to become a proffesional player. Maybe you're the next Frederer.

Nadia Petrova played instead of Maria. Russia are through to the SF which take place in April.

Maria lost in the quaterfinals to eventual champion Angelique Kerber.
Maria's next tournament will be Indian Wells in March. She won this tournament previously in 2006 and in 2011 was a semi-finalist there.

Really? Oh, what a shame. I suppose it's similar to gymnastics.

2006 Indian Wells Champion, Maria Sharapova cruises through to 3R after trashing Gisela Dulko 6-2, 6-0

Maria through to QF of Indian Wells after trashing Roberta Vinci 6-2, 6-1.
She is the only player to make it to the QFs so far that hasn't dropped a set.
She will play either Maria Kirilenko or Nadia Petrova for a place in the Semis (which was how far she went in last year before losing to eventual Champion Caroline Wozniacki)
