John Mayer's New Song 'Shadow Days'



The 34-year-old singer posted a 60-second clip of the track on his Tumblr page. It’s his first song since having throat surgery to treat granuloma.

“Here’s a clip of the first single off Born and Raised, called ‘Shadow Days.’ I’m excited to share the first bit of sound from the album … Been looking forward to a post like this since October 14, 2010, the first day I started writing this group of songs. Enjoy,” John wrote.

John Mayer: 'Born & Raised' Cover Art Revealed!

The 34-year-old singer debuted the art on his Tumblr page a day after premiering the album’s first single, “Shadow Days.”

“Every new record I start, a new aesthetic comes in. I can’t help it,” John said last month at a conference.

“I think it’s gonna be more organic, more natural lyrics and chords and artful simplicity,” he teased at the time, adding that the album would have “organic cowboy guitar sounds.”

John recently announced his spring tour, which will lead up to Born and Raised‘s May 22 release date.

John Mayer's "Shadow Days" bows at #42. It's the first single from Mayer's fifth studio album Born And Raised, which is due May 22. The album was originally slated for release in October, but was postponed because Mayer underwent throat surgery that month. His ordeal has also forced him to cancel a tour.

You may be surprised to learn that, after nearly a decade of pop stardom, Mayer has yet to land a top 10 hit on the Hot 100. He has had six top 20 hits as a lead artist: "No Such Thing" (#13), "Your Body Is A Wonderland" (#18), "Daughters" (#19), "Waiting On The World To Change (#14), "Say" (#12) and "Who Says" (#17).
